Listing Of The Week Arc House Stands Out In Hamptons

50 Green Hollow Rd, East Hampton, NY

For sale: $3.95 million

The three-bedroom, three-bath Arc House in East Hampton brings the outdoors in.

In East Hampton, many of the homes are classic: shingled, clapboard, traditional New England-style structures. These homes make the Arc House stand out even more.

Architect Maziar Behrooz designed the Arc House in 2010. The choice of the arc, reported Archinect.com, was a desire to create a “one-room ideal” that felt like it spilled “out into the landscape.” The challenge was finding the right height of an arc so that the building felt small enough to be comfortable, yet spacious. The final measurements chosen resulted in the arc standing at 16 feet tall and spanning 20 feet by 60 feet.

Walls of glass — hurricane-proof and ultra-efficient — capture the surrounding landscape, notes listing agent David Zazula.

“You have the feeling of the outdoors inside,” he said.

The three-bedroom, three-bath home is generous and luxurious, said Zazula, of Halstead Property.

The Arc House stands 16 feet tall and spans 20 feet by 60 feet.

“They spared nothing in the finishes — from the flooring down to the fixtures in the bathroom and the appliances in the kitchen,” he added.

A suspended staircase leads down to the lower level. The house also includes a 1,000-bottle wine room, sauna and gym with 9-foot ceilings. Also on the property is a four-car garage with a living, vegetated roof.

Sitting on 2.62 acres, the home spans a total of 5,173 square feet.

Hamptons real estate is on the high end; the median home value in East Hampton North is $1,014,800, and many homes currently on the market are priced quite near to that.
